"Her beautifully worded blend of encouragement, validation, and transparency made me feel seen in a way I didn't know I needed."

"Absolutely incredible. If you or someone you love have migraines please read this book."

You don't have to walk this path alone.
Ancient Egyptians treated migraine by tying clay crocodiles to the forehead. Stone Age healers drilled holes in the skull.
While drilling into my head has at times sounded pleasant, I've tried most everything else save this.
Migraine is the sixth most disabling illness in the world, affecting over 9 million men and 28 million women in the US alone. I am one of them. I'm also an artist, a writer, and a woman of faith who spent over ten years looking for healing that never quite arrived in the shape I asked for.
This is a memoir in vignettes about the place where faith, art, and pain intersect. Intercessory prayer and Netflix binges. Weeks in an in-patient clinic. Creating through the never-ending pain in head. Asking God questions I was not supposed to ask out loud.
Sometimes true healing looks different from what we imagined.
This book is for you if…
- You are tired. In body, in soul, and you're sick of traveling this journey alone.
- You live with chronic pain, whether migraine or another kind.
- You prefer the brutally honest questions over easy trite answers.
- You are a creative, spiritual person.
- You still search for beauty, even now. Especially now.
- You love a paperback with beautiful details on the page.
A note from me
This book won't heal you or give you a how-to guide. This book is not a theological treatise with no contradictory belief systems. This book is, quite simply, what I wished I had when my pain was at its worst: An outstretched hand. A partner on the journey. A space to be seen.
"The author is so unapologetically honest and raw. Abby grapples with thoughts, emotions and questions most people won't say out loud."

"I cannot recommend this book enough to anyone who battles with chronic pain and/or illness."
